WHAT MAKES US UNIQUE?

We provide children and their parents with the tools to build a positive life!  We do this by getting to know our families inside out through offering a free online assessment to all new school enrolments and to all school children on a termly basis to ensure that progress in your child is tracked.

Why is Zeal the Zebra our mascot?

The Zeal for Life® assessment which was specially created by Equal Zeal® with our toxic lifestyles in mind looks at all areas of your child’s life which may impact on achieving all round success.  These graphical assessments measure potential areas of need and assist with recommending a tailor-made plan of action within the classroom which addresses developmental lags or threats before problems arise.

At Little Zealers Academy we offer custom made and well-researched educational products to your child with materials being clear, concise and informative and developed by Equal Zeal® with our unique school environment in mind.  One of these tools is an Equal Zeal® toolkit that each child receives at the commencement of every new school term containing relevant materials for our whole-school motivational programme. Parents and children are provided with structured weekly activities which need to be completed for homework with sticker charts and rewards being part of the programme.

We provide onsite personal development programmes and support to both parents and children on an ongoing basis.  A mandatory Zeal for Life® family skills programme is provided on a termly basis for all new enrolments. The outcome of this programme is for children to understand the effects of their thinking on their feelings, behaviour and consequences. Alongside the Emotional Intelligence skills taught, it also looks at building family dynamics through highly interactive activities.

WHAT SERVICES DOES OUR SCHOOL OFFER?
  • Four age groups with a maximum capacity of 20 children in each class.

  • An online web page per child is provided and is accessible via password by parents.  All correspondence by extra-mural instructors, the teacher, staff on duty or principle of the school will be uploaded onto this data base which will be hosted on a main server.  This information will thus be easily transferred from year to year and a personal “talent profile” of the child will be built up over time that will highlight observations in all areas of development.  This profile can be transferred to any school at any given time.

  • Meals4Zeal is responsible for the onsite catering for breakfast and lunch and will only use the freshest, most natural available ingredients that aim to eliminate preservatives, refined sugars, salts and any processed foods.  Parents who have the time available are encouraged to eat breakfast or lunch with their child.  This will be done at an extra cost and on pre-order with the Meals 4 Zeal Chef. This aims to nurture quality time spent together around the dining table whereby parents can show an interest in their child’s hustle bustle lives by simply slowing down for a breather.  Pre-prepared family meals can also be ordered for dinner times when collecting children.   Each day a different team of child helpers will assist in the kitchen and in the dining area in preparation for breakfast and lunch.

  • Responsibilities may include picking of organic vegetables from the garden, washing of the vegetables, setting and clearing of the table. Table manners will be high on the agenda with prayers said before breakfast and lunch with a healthy habit of hand washing and eating with proper utensils being nurtured.

  • A team of onsite specialists including an Equal Zeal® Life Skills consultant will be on hand to assess and address developmental delays.

  • A parent library will be housed at the school with a comprehensive collection of books on parenting, as well as various magazines related to child rearing. Parents may take books out on child-related topics as the need arises as a complimentary service provided by the school. Great lengths will be taken to keep the library up to date with fresh resources. Alongside this a dedicated library area for children will be created with time included in the curriculum for quiet reading time.

  • We keep a variety of pets for the children to enjoy as we believe in the therapeutic nature of animals. The children have access to the cages and assist in the feeding which enhances responsibility and leadership potential. We allow them to hold the animals in a controlled area and we teach them how to treat and respect animals big and small. We also rely on families to babysit the school pets on a roster basis during school holidays and to help with feeding over weekends as part of the learning process.

  • We believe that we should all be working together to preserve our planet and create a better earth to leave behind, thus recycling is encouraged. We believe in encouraging children to bring waste materials such as boxes, paper and other kitchen recyclables to school for use in art and science projects.

WHY IS ZEAL THE ZEBRA OUR MASCOT?

Little Zealers Academy is themed around the book “Zeal the Zebra shows his true colours”     authored by Equal Zeal® founder, Zelna Lauwrens.  This motivational tool which is the first in the series of African adventures, teaches children to recognise and value their own distinctiveness. This beautifully  illustrated African tale follows Zeal, a multi-coloured Zebra who struggles to understand his own uniqueness. He embarks on a journey of self-discovery and acceptance and realises he was born to stand out and to be exceptional!  This important book forms the basis of the teaching at Little Zealers Academy where children are encouraged to lay down rules and boundaries about themselves and their behaviour, which successfully develops and nurtures a strong self-esteem. Click here to buy this book.

Accompanying the book is a specially formulated CD called “Zeal the Zebra tunes” created by talented musician Cathy del Mei which imparts lessons of self love, values and worthiness.

On registration, all children who attend our school receive a personalised and signed copy of “Zeal the Zebra shows his true colours” and “Zeal the Zebra Tunes” as part of their initial fee.
