HOW DO WE ENRICH YOUR CHILD?

Our approach at Little Zealers Academy is to nurture the creativity that is inherent in each child and for your child to work independently in an informal learning environment. Unlike the traditional schooling system that tends to put more emphasis on the left or logical side of the brain, all teaching at Little Zealers Academy is linked to the right side of the brain which is the creative side and where the development of skills is naturally acquired. This creative process is enhanced through interactive thought-provoking games, structured activities, stories, visual presentations and music which form the basis of transmission of skills & knowledge.

WHAT DOES OUR CURRICULUM ENTAIL?

Our curriculum is presented progressively by basing all concepts on past experiences, in a hands-on and age-appropriate way full of fun, action and noise! These are all effective tools for enhancing enjoyment and knowledge and understanding of the world.

A well-researched programme is planned and organised carefully through teacher-directed and free-choice play periods. These assist in promoting concept formation, language development, pre-reading, pre-writing and pre-maths skills, confidence, self-discipline, problem-solving and social skills.

Your child is encouraged to use all the senses to experience and create works of art on a daily basis with the process being more important than the end product. Everyday art work is sent home for the parent to enjoy and the parent will be provided with a portfolio of ART in the Zeal for Life® folder provided as part of the initial school registration.

All play equipment is selected and arranged carefully by the teachers on a daily rotational basis to encourage the development of your "whole" child and to ensure that your child is stimulated on an ongoing basis. We believe in using every nook and cranny in our school to ensure that your child is provided with an enriching environment at every turn. We make sure that your child has a wide range of indoor and outdoor play opportunities to choose from:

  • Physical play includes a cycling track, climbing frames, skipping, ball games, swings and slides.
  • Emotional play includes fantasy play involving “dressing up” and role plays, tactile experiences and a petting zoo of real animals
  • Creative play includes painting, working with play dough, cutting, sticking and collaging.
  • Social play includes sand and water trays, large board games, themed play areas such as restaurant, doctor’s rooms, Mr. Builder.
  • Cognitive play includes large board games, puzzles, building blocks, construction kits, computers, educational games.

WHAT DO WE EAT?

As a society we’ve become ignorant about what our bodies truly need to function at optimum. More than ever, children are becoming fussier eaters, developing all sorts of food intolerances and allergies to wheat/gluten, dairy, sugar and eggs, to name only a few, and even worse falling prey to diseases such as diabetes and cancer. In almost every parenting magazine, you’ll read about Attention Deficit Disorder or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, depressed and moody children, out-of-control delinquent behaviour in schools, and the list goes on.

A cooked meal for both breakfast and lunch is provided as part of your child’s school fees as well as an afternoon and morning snack. With our chef being trained in the Meals4Zeal allergen-free cooking methods we aim to equip your child with good nutritional habits which in turn will lead to a strong body and mind. Alongside this, we maximise water intake in your child through an incentive programme.

The Meals 4 Zeal weekly menu aims to address the following:

  1. Food intolerances or allergies
  2. ADD or ADHD
  3. Poor concentration
  4. Mood swings or depression
  5. Respiratory diseases and general ill-health
  6. Weight fluctuations or over- and underweight children

HOW DO OUR EXTRA MURALS OPERATE?

At Little Zealers Academy, we provide a range of in-house Extramural Activities that fall under the Equal Zeal® range of services offered. This ensures that our school ethos is acknowledged by all independent business owners that offer extra-mural training to your child. We do this to ensure that they too will impact on your child in a positive way by using the Equal Zeal® principles that underlie our whole-school approach. This goes back to our school routine of maintaining consistency and boundaries across the board to ensure that your child has the opportunity to build a healthy self esteem in a nurturing environment.

Everyday a different extra-mural will be available and parents will need to pay the Business owner directly per term. The costs will vary and it is advised that your child participates in no more than 3 options per term.

Our range of extra-murals include:

Zeal Strokes Swimming Academy (only available January – March and October – December)

Meals 4 Zeal Cooking Academy (allergen free cooking lessons based on healthy lifestyle choices)

Zeal Movement Academy (for sport, dance & martial arts)

The Life Skills Studio for Kids® (for the building blocks for a positive life)

Zeal Techno Academy (for computer training and other technological orientated activities)

Zeal Mind Holiday Academy (based on yoga principles that teach relaxation and stress reducing techniques)

Zeal Creative Academy (for nurturing creativity through a structured arts and crafts curriculum)

Zeal Drama Academy (imagination and confidence is developed by learning how to communicate ideas, problem solving, and relating to other people.)
